SIXTEEN STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN 2014-15 UMD SCHOLAR LIST CITATIONS; BULLDOGS' GPA IS HIGHEST EVER

DULUTH, MN – A group of 16 Bulldog student-athletes have been named to the UMD Athletic Academic Scholar List for compiling the highest grade point average during the 2014–15 school year in their respective sports.

Five seniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen, all of whom were 2014–15 letterwinners, comprise the UMD Athletic Academic Scholar List (*denotes number of previous selections):

Overall, UMD's 412 student-athletes, which include redshirted freshmen, posted an average GPA 3.18 in 2014-15 -- an all-time high -- and of that group, 99 achieved GPAs of 3.50 or above and 11 turned in perfect 4.00 marks. The women's basketball Bulldogs registered the best collective GPA (3.61) of any UMD team during the 2014-15 school year while soccer (3.33) and tennis (3.32) were next. Women's basketball also took top GPA honors for both the fall (3.65) and spring (3.57) semesters.
