UMD MBA Program Announces Two Major New Scholarships

Duluth – Thanks to a generous contribution from UMD alumnus Dennis Maki, the MBA program at the Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) on the UMD campus announces the availability of two Maki Tuition Fellowships; each is $6,000 per year renewable for up to two years based on program performance for a total of $12,000 per student.

“MBA scholarships are typically rare,” said Rajiv Vaidyanathan, LSBE’s professor of marketing and director of the MBA program. “We are very fortunate to have a most generous benefactor in Dennis Maki who believes in the value of our MBA program and helping support building leaders in the region.”

Students who previously received the Maki undergraduate scholarship will be given preference for the Maki Graduate Tuition Fellowship.

Application criteria include a demonstrated financial need, academic caliber, and level of prior work experience. Students who are already enrolled in the MBA program and have completed at least three courses need to submit their MBA GPA (from their transcript.)

Full application instructions can be found at http://z.umn.edu/mbafellowships/

Deadline to apply is July 15, 2010, with award decisions announced on or shortly after August, 15, 2015.

LSBE is accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International, a prestigious distinction that has been awarded to less than 5% of business schools. The UMD MBA, offered in-person in Rochester and Duluth, is the only AACSB-accredited graduate program offered in those regions. Our program is geared towards working adults, giving the opportunity to graduate in as little as two years through an array of Friday night and Saturday morning classes offered every other week in Rochester and evening classes in Duluth.
