Resume, CV, Cover Letter and Personal Statement Critique

Career and Internship Services offers a free critique service for UMD students and alumni. If you would like assistance with polishing your documents please follow the instructions below.

Resume, CV, Cover Letter Critique

Before submitting your documents for review, follow the guidelines for writing resumes, cv’s and cover letters in the Career Handbook.

You must attach the Review Request Form (Word) to your document. Fill out the form by clicking on the shaded fields, then either print it out and attach to your document to drop off or attach the form and your document to your e-mail.

Please allow 5 working days for review of a resume, cv or cover letter, although it may take longer at some times of the year. You will receive the critiqued document by e-mail or be notified when it is ready for pick up. Documents not claimed after 30 days will be discarded.

For immediate feedback on a resume, please check the Resume Drop-in Hours schedule.

Personal Statement Critique

For a personal statement, complete our FREE online Moodle workshop: Writing a Personal Statement for Graduate or Professional School. After you have completed the Moodle workshop and written a draft of your personal statement, you can have it reviewed by Career and Internship Services staff by making an appointment with a career counselor or by submitting it online.

You must attach the Review Request Form (Word) to your document. Fill out the form by clicking on the shaded fields, then either print it out and attach to your document to drop off or attach the form and your document to your e-mail.

Please allow 10 working days for a personal statement, although it may take longer at some times of the year. You will receive the critiqued personal statement by e-mail or be notified when it is ready for pick up. Documents not claimed after 30 days will be discarded.
